£25k-£35k (dependent upon experience) & benefits

Based: Surrey

My client is a highly successful International FMCG household goods manufacturer and brand leader in its category in several countries worldwide. Entrepreneurial, innovative and dynamic, it manufactures and markets a range of brands plus a limited range of own-label products for key retailers, many of whom are Category partners. The company is currently showing strong growth across all sectors with a clear strategy to build sales and distribution in both the UK and overseas markets via a network of distributor partners. The company is now looking for a Category Insight Analyst to support the Sales and Marketing teams to help drive and promote their ambitious growth plans.

Reporting to the Trade Marketing Manager, the role will have a broad remit but focus on the regular analysis of core market data and providing key insights to assist the business in achieving its commercial targets. Your key responsibilities will include translating key insights into category and product development strategies, analysis of promotional and advertising effectiveness, producing category presentations, preparing regular reports for senior management and supporting the sales team with ad-hoc specialist analysis as required. The role is based at the company’s offices in Leatherhead, Surrey with some occasional overseas travel.

Of graduate calibre you are naturally data literate, highly analytical, commercially aware and can demonstrate some relevant experience gained in a category, analyst or client management role. Your experience to date may have been gained within an FMCG supplier, retailer or a market data research agency. You will have a clear understanding of how to interpret a variety of data sources, ideally Nielsen data, IRI and Dunnhumby. Most importantly, you will add value and real insight that result in actionable recommendations. A good knowledge of Excel would also be highly desirable. You will be working with colleagues and data in overseas markets so you need to be comfortable with being exposed to other languages and cultures. Importantly, you will be able to demonstrate strong attention to detail, verbal and written communication, planning, numeracy and team working skills combined with a ‘can do’ attitude.
