Job Title:                    Trade Marketing Specialist – UK Retail     Ref: 05

Reporting to:             Manager, Britain & Ireland Markets

Job Purpose:             

To maximise the returns from the British market for the Irish consumer food and drink sector by building awareness of the Irish supply base capability amongst target buyers in the grocery retail channel

Manager Britain & Ireland Markets, Britain and Ireland Market Teams, Director Markets, Director Food and Beverages, Sector Manager Team, Consumer & Markets Insight Team, Origin Green Team & Fellows.

Key External Relationships

Bord Bia client companies, UK customers, UK retail mentors, UK PR agency, UK market research & consultancy agencies, trade and consumer media.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Development, execution and evaluation of the CFD Retail annual plan including financial targets
  2. Support implementation of Bord Bia strategy in UK multiple retail channel
  3. Build awareness and reputation of Irish supply base amongst relevant UK retail buyers  
  4. Develop business opportunities for Irish CFD clients in multiple retail channel
  5. Deliver workshops, seminars and mentoring programmes for client companies to develop market knowledge, strategic insight and key account management capability

Main Duties

  1. Annually review and evolve the UK Retail Programme to maintain its relevance and effectiveness.
  2. Present and sell to relevant UK buyers the capability of the Irish CFD supply base, building strong and tangible relationships with key decision makers
  3. Organise each year “meet the buyer” contact events providing opportunities for Irish suppliers to present capability and range of products
  4. Co-ordinate and develop bespoke mentoring sessions for client companies with the aim of delivering optimal returns from investment in UK market
  5. Delivery of customised client services effectively and efficiently
  6. Develop network of subject experts on retail channel issues of the day, specifically the dynamics of the market as Brexit evolves
  7. Management of key service provider contracts to ensure optimal output for client firms and value for money with expenditures
  8. Manage assigned EOP, ensuring high standards of work are maintained and inputting into EOP’s personal development.
  9. Achieve income and expenditure targets

Additional Duties

  1. Support general activities of the London office and contribute to key strategic projects
  2. Input to monthly activity and finance reports

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications:

  • Degree level qualification in relevant discipline, e.g. Business Marketing
  • Specialisation in international marketing an advantage
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies e.g. Marketing Institute of Ireland or other appropriate is advantageous

Experience:

  • 3 + years experience operating in a marketing role in Ireland, Britain or international  markets
  • A good working knowledge of British grocery retailing industry would be a distinct advantage
  • Experience researching markets, analysing and interpreting information
  • Successful introduction of high profile marketing programmes or events
  • Knowledge of the Irish Food, Drink and Horticulture sector
  • Proven record of working independently in the marketplace
  • Proven experience of building credible professional relationships with senior executives, diplomats and politicians both in Ireland and the Marketplace.
  • Proven experience operating professionally in different cultures.
  • Budget management experience
