A fantastic opportunity is now available to join a UK market leader within the Garden / DIY industry. In this position you will manage Key Accounts and also lead a team of Territory Sales Managers.

Our client supplies industry leading products to many of the UK’s leading DIY retailers, garden centre groups, building merchants and buying groups. They boast state of the art production facilities in mainland Europe, giving them a significant competitive advantage over their rivals. With a great brand name and history dating back to the 1800’s, our client is now a modern, innovative and forward thinking organisation. Due to their exciting growth plans they are now looking to recruit a Key Account Manager who will manage a team of Territory Sales Managers, whilst also personally managing key accounts across multiple sales channels.

The Role

 As Key Account Manager you will be responsible for sales of around £10m across an existing portfolio of key accounts. You will be expected to build strong relationships with these key accounts and also secure new customers by using a collaborative approach, with the aim of driving sales and profitability. In addition you will also lead a team of Territory Sales Managers. Your team will directly sell to smaller independent customers, whilst also supporting on larger national accounts at branch level, carrying out tasks such as merchandising and sales training.

 

The Person

 Ideally you will have experience within either garden or DIY products, or other closely related industries. You will be a strong account manager who has shown stability in your career and can demonstrate a proven track record of growing sales with key and national accounts. Ideally you will have experience of successfully leading a team of people in the past. However, candidates who have not managed people previously, but can clearly demonstrate leadership traits, may also be considered. It is important you are a highly driven sales person with great communication and interpersonal skills. You will be open minded and have a thirst for self-development and a will to learn new ways of operating. In addition you will have a keen eye for detail and have excellent negotiation skills.
