In this country, Royal Selangor Pewter (UK) Ltd is entrusted with their wholesale distribution operation and the management of their own flagship retail store, as well as partnering with an equally well-regarded family business to their mutual advantage through their managed Concessions.

 

Alongside their formidable range of pewter, the business also owns Comyns of London, a world famous sterling silver brand with centuries’ old heritage, as well as possessing the much sought-after STAR WARS Disney licence. Thus, this business encompasses a multitude of exciting product categories, and the breadth of their product range justifies maximum retail space and product listing across a number of sectors.  

Reporting to the Malaysian based Executive Director, the key challenge for the new Sales Director, UK, will be to accelerate top line growth, primarily by driving forward the Wholesale business.

National Accounts, be they major Jewellery or Department store players, demand ever greater service and inspiration, and our client has the capability to supply this in abundance. Ensuring the success of your brand’s Concession presence through co-operation and mutual trading growth is also a continuing objective. A team of field based Visual Merchandisers will require your support, leadership and development, and your strategic vision will also be focused on the Company’s flagship London store.

The independent market remains as ever a prime distribution focus. Now is the time to reinforce the importance of having precious manufactured items in stock, to ensure that every customer visit can end in the purchase of a perfect gift.

This role will provide ample opportunity for a highly talented individual to influence the UK strategic development plan of this business. Of particular interest to our client is the further development of established associations with buying groups, be they in Jewellery (CMJ / Houlden Group), Housewares, or indeed other as yet unchartered categories including corporate and B2B. Shrewd investment over recent years has seen all the day–to-day operations moved either to third party providers or centralised in Kuala Lumpur, which will afford you greater time to pioneer market areas outside the traditional supply routes.

It is absolutely essential that your career to date should demonstrate your total customer service focus, and your appetite for opening profitable new channels of trading, while respecting the brand’s equity and market status. You will already have succeeded in a National Accounts role and led a sales team to become ever more driven and motivated to realise the true market potential of the products they carry.

Your confidence and panache will see you totally at ease networking with luminary figures within the sector, enhancing the reputation and opportunities available to the unique business that you could be honoured to represent.

It is expected that you will travel overseas at least twice a year, attending International Sales Meetings to represent your market’s growing ambition. In addition, your attention will be absolutely focused on new business development out in the field, with weekly visits to the London HQ if required and productive.
