Sales Development Manager

St Austell Brewery is an independent family-owned business based in St Austell and was established in 1851. It is now one of the largest private companies in Cornwall with an annual turnover in excess of £155 million. The company owns over 170 pubs and hotels throughout the South West.  It also produces critically acclaimed beer which is sold both nationally and internationally. In addition to brewing, it also has a successful wholesale division selling to over 2,000 free trade outlets throughout the South West. In 2016 St Austell acquired the award-winning Bath Ales Brewery, extending its footprint to become the most successful privately owned brewery in the Southwest. 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sales Development Manager to join the Sales team.

The ideal candidate should possess the following attributes:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Excellent time management ability.
  • Good business sense and the ability to work to budgets
  • Two years sales experience
  • Strong commercial awareness

Major Responsibilities:

1.            Maximise sales to customers to achieve maximum profitability and revenue by visiting allocated customers in a pre determined region

2.            Identify and develop new sales opportunities with existing and potential customers

3.            Developing sales strategies to achieve set targets.

4.            Manage the credit exposure within the customer base

5.            Acting as the main contact between the company and its customers

6.            Monitor customer sales within area to ensure that sales potential is fully developed       

7.            Maintaining and developing relationships with existing and potential customers

8.            Establish and maintain effective communication links with internal Company departments.

9.            Maintain accurate records of all sales activity and prepare regular forecasts to enable effective forward planning

10.          Identifying customer requirements and identifying how to meet them.

11.          Representing the company at trade exhibitions, events and demonstrations
