National Account Manager - Grocery



The Company:

Better Placed are pleased to be working with a market leading food company based in West Yorkshire who are well known for their consistent innovation, leading the market with continual NPD across retail and food service channels alike.

Due to exceptional growth we are seeking an experienced National Account Manager to join the grocery team and take responsibility for one of their largest accounts. Our client has experienced phenomenal growth over the last 10 years and is now widely recognised as a market leader within their category. They boast an unrivalled brand portfolio which is experiencing great success due to a continuous focus on quality and successful innovation.



The Role:

As a National Account Manager you will have full P&L responsibility for a Top 4 Grocery multiple account and will act as the customer's main point of contact for the business. Reporting directly into the National Account Controller you will be accountable for:
  • Developing and implementing a commercial Joint Business Plans with the customer
  • Delivering profitable and sustainable sales growth
  • Controlling budgets and forecasting
  • Launching and driving NPD
  • Executing all promotional plans for product portfolio
  • Liasing cross-functionally with NPD, Category and Marketing
  • Building strong relationships with customer and key stakeholders
  • Maintaining daily contact with customers and attending regular face-to-face meetings
  • Keeping up with key category trends and identifying new business opportunities




The Person:

Ideally we are looking for someone with a successful track record of managing Top 4 Grocery accounts however P&L responsibility of alternative accounts and exposure to support on Grocery accounts will also be considered.
  • An FMCG food background is essential
  • Experiencing of creating JBPs
  • Ambitious personality
  • Proven ability to successfully develop business
  • Great communicator both written and verbal
  • Numerate and great with data




This position would suit an experienced National Account Manager or an National Account Executive looking to progress and gain more responsibility. Candidates with a food buying background that are looking to move into national account management will also be considered.
