Acre is working in partnership with Compassion in World Farming (CIWF), a global non-profit leader campaigning to end factory farming. Farm animal welfare and wellbeing founded on scientific fact is at the heart of all CIWF do. Projects range from addressing the antibiotic health crisis and conditions in live animal transport, through to driving standards at corporate-level through the implementation of the Business Benchmark on Farm Animal Welfare (BBFAW).

We are searching for a new Head of Food Business, responsible for the day to day delivery and effective operation of CIWF’s European Food Business Programme. The successful candidate will lead a pan-European team generating new funding opportunities and champion CIWF’s programme of communications.

Reporting into the Director of Food Business, you will play a central role in in further implementing and developing CIWF’s business strategy to extend further into Europe and beyond.

Core responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor and advise across all European business-to-business engagements, targeting major global food companies across multiple sectors
  • Collaborate with the Director of Food Business, to extend the business strategy as well as strengthen and enhance the business service offering
  • Manage and maintain high-level performances across an ambitious European team (currently 7 direct reports)
  • Drive the implementation of CIWF’s corporate engagement tools such as BBFAW

The Head of Food Business, Europe will be an informed, proven risk-taker and a highly motivated leader, with the ability to effectively and efficiently priorities workloads. You will also have a strong track record of developing and influencing business, coupled with a passion for CSR and influencing business change globally.

Skills and capabilities:

  • Demonstrable experience of account and/or relationship management skills, with a range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels, ideally including food companies, consumers and NGO’s 
  • Exposure to shaping CSR strategy within corporate and/or NGO environments
  • Experience of leading a geographically-dispersed team to deliver impactful results
  • Proven experience of complex project management, performance monitoring, reporting and of 5-year budget management, ideally gained from within a professional consultancy framework

In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead and deliver on a range of global programmes at the forefront of food CSR. You will believe in promoting the business case for improved policies and practices across large, global food businesses, combined with an understanding of wider business imperatives of commercial organisations.
