Brindisa offers very good Spanish gastronomy, drawing on 29 years of carefully sourcing fine Spanish food for the UK Market.  Spain is the home to many excellent small scale cheese makers, some of our suppliers shepherd their own herds, while others mature cheeses made on neighbouring farms.  Our mission where possible, is to help find new cheese makers find a market and help save artisan production from extinction.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Buyer specialising in Cheese & Dairy to join our dynamic buying team based in Balham.

We are looking for a Junior buyer who really loves cheese. Some of your time will be spent working with farmers, suppliers, tasting and selecting for our diverse portfolio.   You will also need to know our customers inside and out… anticipating not only what they want today, but what might entice them tomorrow.  In addition, we will also expect you to work alongside our Cheesemonger, preparing and handling cheese for 2 of your 5 days a week.

This is a busy multi-faceted role in which your organisational and interpersonal skills will be crucial.  As a Junior Buyer you will have a direct impact on the sales success of Brindisa.  A self -starter with a positive ‘can do’ attitude and able to hit the ground running will do really well.  Spoken Spanish is essential as you will talking with our suppliers in Spain daily.

 

Essential qualities

  • A love of everything cheese, a discerning and great palate for tasting and matching food parings.
  • Experience of handling cheese, maturing and preparing for sale.
  • Track record of managing suppliers and identify cost saving opportunities.
  • Self-reliant and motivated with proven ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently.
  • Ability to communicate confidently and clearly in English & Spanish.
  • Strong knowledge of various buying and reporting systems.
  • A considered decision maker.
  • Creative angle with commercial acumen.
  • Computer literate.
