Paralegal

Job purpose
This role will be working within the corporate legal team. The Paralegal will be involved in all aspects of support within the legal team working with the qualified solicitors in day to day work which includes the preparation of contracts, NDA’a, Terms and Conditions
This role will sit within the legal team, working directly for, and with, the two solicitors within the team. The solicitors both report in to the General Counsel.
Role context
Employing over 10,000 people, the group supplies a diverse customer base, which includes, independent pubs, restaurants and hotels, schools, hospitals, contract caterers and well known national chains.

Role context
- Preparation of confidentiality agreements
- Reviewing and advising on customer and supplier contracts, ensuring the position of Brakes is protected to the fullest extent
- To assist on M&A activity
- Organise the prompt execution of legal contracts after they have been checked by a solicitor, and manage the execution process with solicitor supervision.
- Checking and proofreading documents
- To ensure best practice in corporate governance
- Perform legal research for the solicitors on a range of matters as required.
- Some commercial experience in-house (or private practice) at a comparable blue-chip organisation / firm would be desirable.
- A strong academic background and a law degree or similar is desirable.
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with team, colleagues and consultants/suppliers and stakeholders in a professional, consistent manner
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Flexible and open to changing priorities and managing multiple tasks simultaneously within compressed timeframes
- Discretion with sensitive/confidential information
