The Role
This role is key to the site delivery of the H&S strategy to improve health, safety and risk management standards across their region. To support the site management teams to deliver improvements and achieve the set objectives for H&S performance.
In addition close support to operational staff’s management of H&S is required using cultural change tools to enhance performance and value.
Promote good practice in terms of waste management & recycling and encourage the minimisation of energy at sites

This is a key position with the successful candidate expected to make a valuable contribution to regional H,S&E performance. Candidates must therefore possess the correct blend of knowledge, skills and personal qualities.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience:
Employing over 10,000 people, the group supplies a diverse customer base, which includes, independent pubs, restaurants and hotels, schools, hospitals, contract caterers and well known national chains.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
- Drive base line standards improvement on Health and Safety and property management on site and actively promote a developing safety culture
- In partnership with the Distribution Centre Manager and Regional H&S Manager the job holder will ensure that Health, Safety & Environment key performance indicators are fully integrated into, and properly reflected in overall site performance reporting.
- To act as an advisor on all health, safety, environment.
- The job holder will champion the need to deliver year on year improvements in driving down accidents and collision incidents, H&S management systems development and improving employers’ liability claims performance.
- The job holder will champion the need to deliver year on year improvements and compliance with current ISO standards for environmental management.
- Support the delivery of the behavioural safety process.
- Deliver safety and compliance training as necessary.
- Network with other regional sites HS&E Officers and Champions assisting in the development and coaching of individuals to improved performance and achievement, thereby assisting the whole Business to achieving targets and key objectives.
- Working within their region to provide professional leadership in the creation and delivery of appropriate systems and standards, processes and activities to meet or exceed legislative requirements.
- Ensure accuracy of reporting and visibility regarding the Health Safety and Environmental performance of each location and region. Individual will provide the ROM’s / ROD’s and Central H&S and Environmental function with succinct, timely and meaningful information.
- Establish strong relationships with colleagues in other regions to capture and share Best Practice and contribute to raising awareness, improving performance and transitioning to a “pro-active” from a “reactive” safety culture.
- Champion the delivery and progression of Behavioural Safety at the regional sites.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience:
- Candidates ideally to have logistics operational experience.
- Detailed knowledge of site logistics operations and commercial fleet operations.
- Must have appropriate influencing skills.
- Have the personal skills to engage and support all levels of employees and management
- Ideally candidates will have good knowledge of operational/process engineering roles and be able to provide constructive input to engineering and other technical related issues.
- Must be proactive & solutions driven in a rapidly changing environment.
- Personal style is important. Candidates must be team players, receptive to the objectives of the site managers & regional management team, and possess the vision and passion to shape the Health, Safety and Environmental agenda and make a real difference.
- Will be robust, assertive and able to withstand pressure and remain firm and decisive.
- Must possess the personal stature, intellect and self-confidence to operate within the regional structure and work across business disciplines and on occasion represent the Company with external bodies.
