One of the most innovative vending companies in the UK seeks a National Account Controller to lead, manage and motivate the national account sales team.

About the Role:

Working as a National Account Controller, you will be required to ensure the team achieves agreed company financial objectives, maximise new sales growth opportunities whilst retaining large accounts (50/50 split).  As part of the management team, you will also provide guidance and support to the further sales team as part of the management team.  More specific duties will include;

  • Report to and work closely with the Group Sales Director to lead and develop the company’s national account activity, ensuring effective leadership, existing account management and new business growth
  • Ensure consistent, profitable growth in sales revenues through positive planning
  • Deliver a ambitious sales plan, providing opportunities to bid for an win major contracts with significant scale (£1m upwards) via the team and own efforts
  • Work alongside the management team in areas of operations, marketing and product and service offering to achieve the corporate business plan
  • Implement, manage and maintain the company’s sales strategy for national accounts, customer retention and development
  • Actively seek, listen and respond to customer comments about their present and future needs to guide product choices and sales & service strategy
  • Attend new business meetings and accompany the national account sales team to understand customer requirements and secure new business from these meetings
  • Monitor individual account performance using CRM and management cycle
  • Make quick and accurate cost calculations and provide customers with quotations/proposals
  • Negotiate terms and close deals
  • Prepare and deliver business plans for existing national customers
  • Lead national account tender submissions
  • Work with Group Sales Director to establish sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales targets for regions and territories
  • Keep abreast of competitor activity to ensure competitive pricing structures
  • Recruit, select, induce and train new staff
  • Hold regular meetings and team briefings
  • Conduct performance reviews
  • Responsible for marketing activities including social media

Key Skills/Experience Required:

In order to be considered for the role of National Account Controller, you must possess the following;

  • A wealth of success in sales with a track record of new business attainment and constantly hitting new business targets
  • Confident management experience and abilities
  • Business/commercially minded with the ability to understand the financial impact of decisions and creating opportunities for the business
  • The ability to analyse and evaluate information, compile reports and presentations and cascade this information to internal and external parties arriving at conclusions that are balanced, systematic and rational
  • Service/Retail exposure in a fast moving, dynamic environment within a commercially driven organisation
  • The skill and ability to spot new business opportunities, identify new markets and generate new angles
  • Vending experience would be an advantage but not essential

Salary/Benefits Information:

  • A basic salary of up to £50,000 p.a (DOE)
  • OTE £85k - £100k p.a
  • Contributory pension
  • Car/Car allowance
  • 25 days holiday
  • Willing to travel nationally
  • Able to work from the Hertfordshire office approx once per week
  • Full UK driving license
