I'm looking for a bright, ambitious Category Buyer for a leading international branded food business to be responsible for the Ingredients category. As an Ingredients Category Buyer you will be responsible for maximising profit opportunities across the ingredients category. You'll set the set and execute the strategy across a multi million pound category, negotiating with suppliers to achieve optimal price, quality, delivery, product development and innovation. Stakeholder management forms a critical part of this role so you'll be responsible for agreeing category strategies and identifying opportunities for cost/service improvement.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Be fully accountable for the ingredients category, understand historic spend and gather future spend profile from budget holders.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders and suppliers agreeing category strategy.
  • Monthly market analysis and budget management .
  • Deliver a pipeline of projects.
  • Contribute to the development of the procurement function.


Candidates will be degree educated procurement professionals with a strong track record of success within the food industry. Direct goods experience is essential, ideally across the ingredients category. Candidates will need excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a strong analytical background. It's an incredibly fast paced environment so candidates will need strong attention to detail and the ability to work with ambiguity and remain flexible.
