Head of Operations

Our client is a large multi-site branded food organisation with annual revenues in excess of £500m. Following an internal move they are currently seeking a Head of Operations to join one of their sites in Kent. The site is a circa £20m t/o operation that has seen 20% year on year growth and manufactures a range of branded products for the UK grocery channel. Whilst part of a larger group it operates as an autonomous business unit and therefore has significant ownership and influence over its own strategy.



Reporting to the MD, the Head of Operations will form a key member of the site`s senior management team leading and supporting a number of cross business initiatives and deputising for the MD where required.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Management & development of the Operations (including warehouse), Technical and Facilities teams to ensure high levels of motivation, engagement and above all safety through consistent, fair management practices.
• Reporting / presenting at monthly board meetings, group Management board & to the workforce at site.
• Preparing, analysing and forecasting departmental budget and tracking and controlling operational and capital expenditure in conjunction with the Finance Manager.
• Key interface with Group Manufacturing, Engineering and Technical teams to ensure GMP and best practice is shared, and instilled.



This is an opportunity to join a business that can offer progression into either a larger site as FGM / Site Director or into a Group function.

Applicants will need to demonstrate the following:

• Significant experience of managing & developing teams, ideally within an FMCG environment.
• Demonstrable knowledge of manufacturing (process & packing) in a high speed operation.
• Ability to understand and implement food Technical / Quality management systems to a high standard.
