Business Development Manager (HORECA) – Foodservice

£28-30,000 Basic, Superb Bonus/Commission, Company Car + Benefits

Our Client is a leading Foodservice business providing end user customers with the full range of Ambient, Chilled & Frozen Products.

This role is to look after an existing portfolio of independent foodservice end user accounts covering mainly HORECA and leisure ( leisure including National Trust, English heritage, tourist attractions etc ). The job holder will also be asked to look after some schools and some care homes.

In addition they will be asked to manage a further chunk of business dealing with individual members ( not at head office ) of some end user buying groups ( for example TUCO, the University Caterers Organisation, Pelican and Prestige ).

In addition the BDM will be fed new business from the new business team and he / she will be responsible for protecting and maximising these new accounts as well. It’s a busy job !

To qualify for this job, candidates will need to have sold into pretty much any independent foodservice end user accounts ( schools, care homes, HORECA, Leisure, End User Buying group members – any of the above ) and must be accomplished account managers, as well as territory managers.

It would be a bonus if candidates were foodies, who understand menu planning, so they could talk intelligently and creatively to chefs and other kitchen staff. It’s not absolutely necessary, but it might be a ( very slight ) bonus, if candidates had some kind of cheffing or kitchen experience at some stage in the past .

Candidates can come from a front of house ( finished ) product that is sold “ as delivered ”, but there would be a slight preference for candidates who have sold back of house products ( i.e. products that go into the making of something else such as milk, cream, sauces, spices, chutneys etc ). Candidates can be from multi-temperature or chilled, or frozen or ambient.  

Candidates need to live in the South East, ideally Home Counties region.

Remuneration - £28k to £30k basic, Good bonus, plus car.
