A vacancy has arisen in the UK Category Development team for a Top 4 Category Manager reporting into a Category Controller.



Responsibilities
  • Working closely with one of Arla's key retail partners to drive category growth through the identification and action of compelling category insight
  • The role will be based in house at the customer c. 2 days a week depending on business need, during this time objectives will be set by the customer but will largely focus around responsibility for merchandising for an allocated category
  • The successful candidate will therefore also support the relevant Category Manager, Account Manager and Marketing team internally with in depth category knowledge that allows them to make informed decisions
  • Flexibility is key in this role and it is important to be comfortable switching focus between categories and moving location between local offices as required
  • All members of this customer Cat Man team take responsibility on a rota basis for running and submitting reports to the customer, this requires flexibility to work some early mornings and Sundays
  • This role will also have shared ongoing responsibility for the continuous maintenance and improvement of these reports and their migration to new systems when necessary




Skills
  • The attitude and the ability to create strong external relationships
  • Capability to use data and impartial insight to back up recommendations in order to develop credibility and trust with the customer
  • Experience of range reviews in one or more top 4 customers
  • Willingness to train on and become proficient in the use of merchandising software including new leading edge tools and processes
  • Strong Excel skills including advanced formulae
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Demonstrable understanding of the UK retail market including channel, retailer, consumer and shopper trends
  • Confidence to work on your own initiative and prioritise accordingly
