About our Client:

A fantastic business and one of leading players in the burgeoning Health Foods market. As a pioneer in the Superfoods market they have grown steadily until exploding into life in recent years and now proudly sitting as one of the major importers and wholesalers of Superfoods across Europe. They were also ranked 26 in the 2015 Sunday Times Fast Track Top 100.

This success has seen the business develop rapidly and in 2015 they received Private Equity investment which has provided the business with the oxygen to focus on their next stage of growth. The newly appointed leadership team brings a wealth of critical industry experience to the table and in line with their growth plans they have invested significantly in the brand, supply chain, systems and infrastructure.

Passionate about the integrity of their products, their portfolio covers over 70 specialist ingredients which are sourced from proven and regulated suppliers from around the world. It is this quality and passion for hard work that has enabled them to build an impressive customer base including Wholesale, Food manufacturers, Private label and Major Retailers.

They are now seeking an ambitious and committed Key Account Manager to become a pivotal part of the team and to take proactive control of their Bulk sales channel. 

About the Role:

Internally based, you'll be reporting to the Head of Sales, taking control of a sales channel that is producing around 50% of the company's revenue. The Key Account Manager will help set and execute the European sales strategy.

In addition to the day to day running of the channel, you'll take responsibility for the following:

  • Delivery of the annual sales and margin targets for the Bulk Ingredients division covering the UK, Europe and potentially further afield.
  • Proactively leading and developing new business initiatives across all target markets. These include Food Manufacturers & Private Label.
  • Implementation of sales and customer development plans - including range selling, quality advantages, promotions and other activities to ensure staying ahead of competition.

About You:

Whilst experience in the Health Food and Ingredients markets is beneficial, it's by no means a pre-requisite. Your commercial acumen gained in Account Management, drive, leadership skills and ability to execute will be the defining qualities to allow you to achieve success here.

ESSENTIAL

  • Demonstrable track record in sales, managing customers, customer service, customer account management, extensive experience in managing telephone calls.
  • An excellent negotiator with proven capability of negotiating on price, setting up trading agreements, managing promotional budgets and implementing price increases.
  • Highly numerate with strong financial acumen and the ability to analyse and interpret data
  • Excellent IT skills with a passion for the efficient use of CRM tools
  • Engaging communicator with the ability to manage and initiate relationships at all levels.
  • Excellent leadership skills who believes in the team approach.
  • Extremely competitive, ambitious and goal-orientated
  • Tenacious with the strength to follow through and keep at it
  • Friendly, sociable and out-going
  • Enjoys working with and selling ideas to people

DESIRABLE

  • A passion for a Healthy way of life
  • Proven experience in trading and wholesaling
  • Strong knowledge of the health foods and superfoods market or a closely related product-led category
  • Excellent knowledge of the ingredients market and the sales process that sits behind.
  • Experience with food manufacturers, brand owners or private label
