We are currently working with a global market leader in branded food and beverage products. Having achieved double digit growth over the last four years their annual revenues are in excess of £500m and they employ over 1,100 people across Europe. They have multiple production facilities across Europe and are currently seeking a Production Director for one of their sites in the UK.



Reporting to the VP or Operations for Europe, the Plant Director will have overall responsibility for setting out and managing the plant`s manufacturing strategy in order to realise the groups strategic objectives. The plant employs 200 people across a highly automated process and manufactures a range of branded products for the UK, but with a small amount of volume exported.

A key area of focus for the Plant Director will be to support the plant in the further implementation of the groups operational excellence programme. They will therefore need to coach their management team accordingly and stimulate them to have a continuous focus on operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities include:

• Implement, cascade and communicate the corporate strategy throughout the site and to provide bottom-up feedback towards Division.
• Lead a cross-functional team, to coach, develop and engage them to continuously improve and to deliver results in order to ensure business continuity and achieve the objectives.
• Determine the plant`s KPI’s and objectives based on the company`s strategy. Realise the required volumes in a qualitative, result-driven and safe manner by appointing specific targets and responsibilities to the team and following-up on the results, in order to achieve maximal plant efficiency.
• Take full ownership with respect to on-site projects with internal and external partners in order to achieve the plant objectives and create value through continuous innovation.
• Responsible for the total plant budget to manage the breakdown and allocation to functional area budgets and to follow-up and report on these in order to guard and maximize optimal spending in line with the strategic decisions of the group.
• Represent the company towards different stakeholders to ensure pro-active and qualitative interfacing with external services and local authorities in order to build and maintain a constructive cooperation and a stable social climate.

Applicants will need to demonstrate the following experience:

• Degree or Masters in Engineering or equivalent through experience.
• Demonstrable experience in a key leadership or management role at a production, plant or site facility for a blue chip FMCG business, preferably food but consideration will be given to other industries
• Prior experience of operating in a group structure and therefore working in accordance with group strategies / programmes for Quality, Operational Excellence, Health & Safety etc.
• Strong leadership, team building and advanced coaching skills.
• Significant operational excellence experience across Lean, Six Sigma, TPM etc.
• Knowledge of the local social legislation and the social environment.
• Ability to work with teams and lead decision-making processes in a team environment.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and listening ability
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
