Part of a €650m Pan-European food business, Valeo Foods UK – the owner of Rowse Honey - is a highly successful business with a reputation for being the UK's no.1 spreads brand. We are the experts in honey with impressive category leadership credentials.

The Company is embarking on an exciting period of growth as it builds upon the resources of the group and enters new categories. Our business is well invested in above-the-line marketing, NPD, manufacturing and operations and, most importantly, our people.

With this in mind we are looking to recruit an outstanding Category Manager to join our head office category team. Reporting to the Senior Category Manager, you will have direct responsibility for managing several categories, in particular Rowse Honey, across a selection of our top six grocery retail multiple accounts. You will also drive our category strategy for growth with our ‘Free From’ range as the designated internal Category Champion.

You need to be dynamic and creative; able to develop projects through from NPD into stores, whilst combining acute analytical and planning skills with the highest attention to detail. Working with substantial data and insights from Nielsen, Kantar and Dunnhumby should be second nature to you, as is formulating and presenting first class category strategies both internally and directly to our customers. You need to be well-practiced with the range review process, working with buyers and merchandisers to expand product categories, launch new ranges and implement promotional activities.

A solid knowledge of FMCG marketing and sales principles is essential to this role, underpinned by an extensive understanding of the FMCG grocery retail environment, consumer needs and shopping behaviour. Key responsibilities will be to shape and develop effective category strategies, as well as leading customer range reviews, with a key focus on delivering distribution, display, NPD and sales and profitability growth objectives. You need to be a strong and eloquent communicator with a ‘can do’ attitude, able to influence cross-functionally with all stakeholders.

If you’re an ambitious, graduate calibre individual, currently working at Category Executive or Category Manager level in the impulse channel or grocery retail multiples with a major FMCG branded or own-label food or drink business and are aspiring for the chance to join a category leading brand, this could be the role for you. If you think you’ve got what it takes, please apply to our retained recruitment consultant mark@smithcarey.co.uk quoting reference number MS/1864 providing details of your current salary and benefits package.

All direct and third party applications will be forwarded to SmithCarey.
