Page Executive are currently retained by Landmark Wholesale Group to find them a new Managing Director.

Details about the Client

The Landmark Wholesale Group was formed in 1972 to provide a centralised Trading and Marketing operation on behalf of Independent Wholesalers.

The group represents the interests of 37 Members who vary in size and geography considerably. The group has consistently grown and now represents a turnover of nearly £3bn with their members across the UK.

The Group Office is based in Milton Keynes.

Detailed Job Description

Primarily the Managing Director will represent the Landmark Group and Member interests. It includes the following responsibilities:

  • Work with the member board to develop and drive the key strategic aims for the organisation for the future
  • Full financial control for the entire organisation
  • Maintain and adhere robust financial controls and procedures
  • Maintain, motivate, recruit, train and develop a fantastic team in order to deliver the goals of the organisation on behalf of the membership
  • Retention and recruitment of both existing and new members
  • Maintain and develop effective relationships with key suppliers
  • Representation of the Landmark Group as required on trade bodies and industry groups
  • Encourage and facilitate best practice across the group
  • Representation on the Landmark group and figurehead for the industry
  • Overall responsibility for Lifestyle Express Stores Group
  • Development and management of the own label ranges

In addition to these it is crucial that you are able to manage the interests of all of the membership.

Candidate's Profile

The Managing Director will be very familiar with the wholesale market either on wholesaler, supplier or convenience side. They will be able to demonstrate the following characteristics:

  • Strong leader
  • Excellent track record of success
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Highly numerate and able to dig into detail
  • Excellent understanding of either wholesale, supplier or convenience markets
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage a large and diverse set of stakeholders with the ability to be a 'politician' when required
  • Key strategic insight and ability to anticipate market trends, challenges and opportunities
  • Strong commitment to equality and diversity
