Commercial Marketing Strategy Manager
Location: Surrey / South London
Package: c. £47k, bonus, car allowance, private healthcare, pension
Reporting to the Controller of Strategy & Customer Marketing, this newly created role offers the right candidate an exciting opportunity to build a career within our international, blue-chip food manufacturing client.
The role will take responsibility across a distinct, profitable product category for driving commercial awareness of profitability & revenue growth for all customer marketing initiatives, as well as developing uniform strategic goals for ranging, promotional activity & trade investment across the top 4 multiple retailers.
The business is well-established in the UK & internationally with a turnover of over £14 billion, covering both branded & private-label product portfolios.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work across all commercial functions including Sales, Category, Branded & Private Label Marketing to develop workable & effective strategies
- Using well-developed influencing skills, build virtual teams from finance, marketing & IT to identify & implement key systems & processes to enable improved commercial reporting & swift, accurate analysis of customer promotional & ranging activity.
- Establish yourself as the “go to” person for all Customer Marketing activity & commercial rationale
Key Requirements:
- Exposure to top 5 grocery multiple retailers.
- Highly developed influencing skills with the ability to guide project teams without direct man-management authority
- Highly numerate with advanced Excel skill, coupled with excellent attention to detail.
- Highly resilient – able to take knock-backs in your stride, without losing motivation
- Exceptional work ethic – demonstrable desire to “make a difference”
- Ability to inspire and energise internal colleagues with the strategic commercial & customer vision
- A background in food would be ideal, but experience of non-food FMCG sales is acceptable
Given the unusual nature & scope of this role, the ideal candidate could come from a Customer Marketing, Category, Account Management or Commercial Finance role within the FMCG sector. The key attributes are numeracy, resilience & influencing skills.
