We require a skilled manager to guide our people through this period of exciting investment and change while being “the face and voice of Bath Ales” to ensure internal and external stakeholders, customers and media are aware of the exciting plans and kept up to date on progress and achievements as they occur. As well as being an excellent motivator and people person, the Bath Ales General Manager will also work closely with the Free Trade sales team to represent Bath Ales at business and sales events, take a lead in activating Bath Ales sports sponsorships while providing the key interface between internal stakeholders at Bath Ales in Warmley and head office functions at St Austell.

Skills and Experience

  • Highly experienced manager with in-depth understanding of the UK drinks industry and hospitality sector in b2b and b2c environment
  • Sales, Marketing or Communications Management background
  • In depth knowledge of the Bristol / Bath region
  • Skilled in effective change management and communications with experience of successfully leading people through change
  • Excellent and motivating communicator – face-to-face and written
  • Captivating and likeable presenter
  • Talented copywriter
  • Adept at speaking with media
  • Structured and organised – able to keep abreast of multiple projects, seeing the big picture while able to identify and resolve challenges at all levels
  • Quickly builds highly effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Knowledgeable and interested in sports sponsorship activation and event management.

Key Tasks:

  • Ensure people at Bath Ales are aware of the company vision and plans, know where they fit, what’s expected of them and are motivated and equipped to deliver.
  • Report regularly to SMT and colleagues at St Austell to ensure issues are identified and resolved quickly.
  • Work with the Marketing and Communications Director and St Austell Brewery Senior Management team (SMT) to develop integrated communications plans for Bath Ales vision and strategy – for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Represent Bath Ales at key external events, trade shows, sponsorship events eg. Bath racecourse – ensuring these events are branded effectively and activated fully.
  • Oversee the Bath Ales shop / reception area and future visitor centre (Hare House and online) to ensure it reflects the Bath Ales brand values and achieves its sales targets profitably.
  • Be the Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS) and key holder for the Bath Ales head office (Hare House).
  • Lead the activation of the Bath Rugby sponsorship to raise awareness and interest in Gem and other Bath Ales brands and venues
  • Work with and support the Free Trade and National Sales teams to help them achieve ambitious sales targets.
  • Handle stakeholder questions about the Bath Ales vision, plan and progress against plan.
  • Be the “go to” person for all employees at Bath Ales locations to provide leadership and resolve day-to-day challenges.
