The retail business at Disney is a dynamic and fast-paced environment that works directly with our retail partners across the country, from high street superstores to online retailers, as well as our own portfolio of magical Disney Stores across the country. The team covers sales, logistics, merchandising and marketing across a range of exciting family-focused products from the Walt Disney portfolio, from DVDs to toys, food and apparel.

We are now seeking a Senior Commercial Manager to join our team based in Welwyn Garden City on a permanent basis.

Aims of the Job:

This is a Senior Commercial Manager role within the UK & Ireland Integrated Retail and Licensing Group responsible for creating and delivering account and category execution strategies for key Food, Health & Beauty and Pet Care (FHBP) categories within a major FMCG retail account and for delivering the Food Snacks, Tinned, Treats, Dry Goods licensing sales targets for entire UK & ROI market, as set by the FMCG Commercial Director for UK & Ireland, and as defined by TWDC corporate fiscal plan.

In addition to exceptional commercial and retail relationship building skills, the Senior Commercial Manager will leverage the wealth of consumer and demographic insights that TWDC has available to pioneer new thinking to drive sales. Commercial acumen is critical to this and an understanding of the dynamics of the licensing business models is also beneficial.

Responsibilities will include:
 
Category Strategy 

  • Supporting the Retail BU Director on setting the account FHBP strategy for one of our major retail partners
  • Supporting the FMCG Commercial Director on determining the Food; Snacks, Treats, Tinned, Ready to Cook and Dry Goods multi retail strategy for all UK & Ireland.
  • Devising, communicating and executing a strategy for Food; Snacks, Treats, Tinned, Ready to Cook and Dry Goods market, consistent with the overall Integrated Retail strategy.
  • Defining and managing marketing investment priorities across category segments
  • Making recommendations for exploring new business opportunities with multiple retailers and Licensees.

Category Plan / Management 

  • Developing, agreeing and executing account plans with partners (Retail & Licensed), to include targets for revenue, market share, YOY growth, franchise, range extension, distribution, operational & administration improvements as well as marketing ROI
  • Developing account plans with the retailers and Retail Account captains which maximises opportunities across all formats – bricks and mortar stores, online, catalogue and digital – and leverages cross-functional opportunities
  • Delivering growth by launching and building comprehensive product ranges that allow partners (Retail & Licensed) to maximise their market share and maximise distribution across all retail channels from Discount to High End and across key strategic franchises

Sales and Relationship Management

  • Acting as an ambassador for The Walt Disney Company, owning the relationship with external partners, and seeking expert support when and where required
  • Working with Finance and Retail Analytics group to help plan delivery of targets, evaluate activity and ensure continuity of product supply

Franchise Management 

  • Working with the FMCG Commercial Director for UK & ROI, Regional FMCG and Franchise leads and providing input into the Franchise Strategy that supports and drives revenues through each of the Consumer Insights areas with partners (Retail & Licensed)
  • Working with Franchise leads and DM+ to deliver outstanding consumer lead programmes for partners (Retail & Licensed)

Finance and Operations and Legal 

  • Developing and implementing annual Joint Business Plans with key top performing licensees and both Retail Customers
  • Working with the FMCG Commercial Director and retail finance planning and analytics to develop account forecasts that lead to the development and execution of the annual business plan
  • Ownership of budget planning, development and management
  • Ensuring annual earned revenue (AOP) targets are met as a minimum with a clear determination to always over-achieve

About you:

Suitable candidates will offer the following skills and experience: 

  • Degree educated with excellent commercial understanding of FHBP and licensing sectors
  • Experience in managing a major Retail Customer in a commercial capacity with direct P&L responsibility essential
  • Experience and understanding of Health and Beauty market essential
  • FHBP Product Development and technical knowledge preferred
  • An understanding of the different licensing models (Direct to Retail, Licensee, Triangular, FOB, etc)
  • Experience of working in multi-level matrix structure within a multinational organisation preferred
  • Excellent communication & influencing skills
  • Excellent presentation skills to large audiences
  • Highly numerate
  • Strategic mind-set
