THE ROLE

We are currently recruiting for a Concept/Product Developer to join us at our Manton Wood "Food to Go" Production Facility.
Your key focus will be to develop new and modify existing products in line with written briefs within our Food to Go Division. This includes salads, sandwiches and sushi.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
As a product developer you will develop concepts around Food to Go products to meet agreed nutritional and organoleptic requirements for the customer and the company. Working alongside the Chef you will translate recipes into viable commercial products including sourcing and verifying the feasibility of new raw ingredients and writing cooking instructions in line with customer and safety requirements to meet external retailer best practice.
You will also benchmark products regularly to gain awareness of the market for a competitive advantage and contribute to idea generation within the team to maximise competitor advantage. You will liaise with Account Managers to ensure that all products meet margin and contribution aspirations and present new products and upgrades to the Product Development Manager in a professional manner demonstrating your food and process knowledge and expertise.
You will also work with manufacturing team to verify feasibility of products going into manufacturing environment and build a relationship with the customer through relevant communication on product developments to ensure the critical path milestones are met.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Ideally you will be a Graduate in Food Science or Food nutrition or you may have entered the industry via an apprenticeship route. Alternatively you may have industry experience having worked in a food manufacturing environment.
You will have an awareness of project management techniques in particular critical path and gated processes along with previous experience of working in a fast paced environment.
You will most certainly have good knowledge of food, be analytical and numerate with strong communication skills.
