The Store Team Leader position has responsibility for overseeing store operations, Team Leader and Team Member development and overall store profitability. The Store Team Leader is also responsible for establishing and maintaining the business in accordance with our mission statement and core values. This position reports to the Senior Coordinator of Operations.
 

DUTIES and QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Responsible for the sales, payroll, and financial performance of the store.
  2. Consistently demonstrate and ensure the highest quality customer service; effectively handle customer complaints when necessary.
  3. Direct responsibility for the productivity of Team Members with respect to performance management, career development and policy adherence and consistency.
  4. Know and regularly visit local competition for comparisons develop customer marketing and customer outreach plans in collaboration with regional marketing.
  5. Ensure Team Member and customer safety at all times; immediately correct and/or report safety hazards, violations and any injuries.
  6. Ensure standards for product quality and freshness, cleanliness, sanitation, merchandising and recordkeeping are understood and upheld by all Team Members.
  7. Conduct effective regular Store meetings and Team Leader meetings; attend and participate in Store Ops and Regional Leadership meetings as required.
  8. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory rules, standards, and licenses.
  9. Ensure effective maintenance of store equipment and fixtures; ensure proper training and use of all store equipment, tools, and fixtures.
  10. Coordinate and supervise physical inventory process ensuring accuracy.
  11. Monitor expenses to remain within budget.
  12. Communicate, represent and uphold Whole Foods Market values and business philosophy to customers, Team Members and vendors.
  13. Mentor and grow leadership.
  14. Interview, select, train, develop, and counsel Team Leaders and Team Members.
  15. Build and sustain a positive work environment.
  16. Exemplify ideal Team Leader and Team Member behaviour and performance.
  17. Ensure accurate completion and timely submission of all paperwork.
  18. Operational skills – knowledge of company procedures, regulatory compliance, Company Policy and analysis of financial data.
  19. Builds a positive work environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect and exceptional morale. Leader in understanding, implementing and “living” the Company Core Values.
  20. Ability to communicate well to TM’s and Regional Leadership and use their expertise to positively influence situations.

  23. Strong skills in understanding the market, competition, and adapting to these influences.

REGULATORY COMPLIANCE:

INTELLECTUAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Demonstrated outstanding team building skills

  4. Extremely organised, able to multi-task many priorities and meeting deadlines
  5. Possesses sound judgment; level headed and fair minded
  6. Minimum 2 years’ experience successfully leading a WFM produce team or equivalent experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Have a thorough knowledge of products, buying, pricing, merchandising, and inventory management.
  2. Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  3. Possess sound judgement, be level headed, and fair-minded.
  4. Have exceptional organisational skills; able and willing to multi-task.
  5. Excellent knowledge of Whole Foods Market policies, procedures, core values, business philosophy, and quality goals.
  6. Able and willing to work mornings, nights, weekends, holidays, and long/unusual hours as needed.
