Category Manager

An excellent opportunity has arisen within one of our key spirits clients for an ambitious self-starter to join their Global Travel Retail Team. As the Category Manager you will be based from their HQ in the South East of England but will operate across a global remit so travel throughout the company’s various regions will be required with the role.

Reporting to the Marketing Director, you will have responsibility for reviewing the promotional effectiveness with the commercial and marketing team across the key and secondary activations. Additionally you will ensure the business has a detailed understanding of category, customer and competitor activity by generating insights that will provide key information to assist in the preparation of global business strategy.  By working with commercial and marketing teams across all regions you will also ensure a clear and consistent vision is taken to market regardless of location and provide valuable input by illustrating the impact of price and promotional strategy proposals. You will also support the development of category driving solutions with the aim of maintaining a clear identity of brands as well as consult and analyse business issues in the field by market/airport in order to identify key drivers of performance.      

We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate a minimum of 5 years’ experience working within a marketing role and in addition will ideally have had exposure to a commercial role in the FMCG sector. The ability to analyse multiple data sources to provide insight that can be actioned to exploit business opportunities and help resolve issues will be second nature, also ability of providing insights that deliver real commercial impact will be crucial. Good interpersonal skills are a must as well as a knack for forming relationships effortlessly as the ability to work with a wide variety of people at all levels and influence across the business are key.
