We're on the lookout for a Marketing Leader to head up our UK Grains business (think Quaker brand). This is a key leadership role in our UK Marketing function and reports operationally into the Senior Commercial Director for our Nutrition business.

We're looking for someone to bring a fresh approach to how we do things, someone with a strong passion for creativity with excellent experience of large campaign management, and above all, someone who can bring an entrepreneurial way of working to the team in order to drive further growth in the category.

Role Accountabilities:

Strategy deployment:

  • Senior level partnership with European Category teams, and across the matrix, to build and execute the Grains future growth strategy.
  • Represent Business Unit (BU) perspectives and requirements at all Grains Category forums (innovation/equity councils) and in Strategic Business Plan (SBP)/Annual Operating Plan (AOP) discussions.

 


Marketing planning:

 

  • Own the development and execution of the local marketing calendar.
  • Create growth tasks and set the A&M budget.
  • Brief, lead and execute the consumer connection plan with full responsibility for media planning and 360 degree activation.
  • Develop key account plans and activation calendar for top Grocery and Impulse accounts with the Commercial Leadership Team (CLT).
  • Local decision rights on design and delivery of key calendar projects at BU Activation Board.
  • Execution of efficient and effective media plans (including GDP/econmetrics) and ownership of the marketing budget, maximising working spend year-on-year.

 


Engagement:

 

  • Deliver customer engagement through compelling plans and local customer activation.
  • Build internal support and engagement through sales conferences and other key sales forums.
  • Ensure all innovation, packaging, comms (IMC) and digital are locally relevant.

 


Course correction:

 

  • Responsible for appropriate course correction with the local Commercial Leadership Team (and Category where appropriate) in order to deliver Annual Plan commitments.

 


Functional leadership:

 

  • Team leader for the highly performing Grains marketing team, managing a team of 3.
  • Internally: Ensure the UK BU is aligned with, and inspired by, the Grains marketing plans.
  • Externally: Ensure suitable internal/external talent pipeline for local roles. Overall lead for local agency selection, management & ongoing negotiation. Proactively seek external best-practice and bring into the business.

 


Key Skills & Experience:

 

  • Leading edge FMCG marketing experience gained in blue-chip consumer businesses
  • Marketing mastery expertise - significant experience and understanding across breadth of marketing fundamentals:
    • Experienced in understanding strategic marketing and business issues to develop marketing strategies, and translating those into plans that can be effectively executed
    • Proven success in developing 360 engagement programmes, communication and promotional materials across a mix of media - new and old
    • Understanding of and experience in Digital marketing
    • Financial literacy and acumen, and demonstration of working well with cross functional teams to drive brand agendas
  • Ability to challenge the known and expected media and commercial challenges and how we bring our brands to life
  • A Passionate voice of the consumer
  • Tenacious executer with a proven track record of delivering significant levels of growth
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to be able to distil complex data and project plans into clear actionable recommendations for senior management
  • Excellent relationship building, listening and influencing skills, actively seeking and understanding inputs of others to gain broad alignment to ideas
  • Experienced at influencing senior management up to and including Regional president
  • Ability to get going quickly - entrepreneurial spirit, and a drive for results
  • Ability to lead, coach and develop direct reports, cross-functional peers and agency partners
