Our client, a well known FMCG food business, is looking for a Commercial Planning Manager to join their business over the next three to four months, prior to a permanent CPM being recruited. 

Role

Reporting to the Head of Commercial Excellence, the Interim Commercial Planning Manager will act as a lynchpin between the sales, marketing, category and revenue management teams, facilitating the flow of information in order to design customer plans against brand and commercial objectives. They’ll be responsible for creating and developing go-to-market plans, owning the commercial planning calendar of initiatives, creating objectives/targets for commercial activity and coordinating KPIs cross-functionally, all with a particular focus on the 5Ps. In addition, they’ll be responsible for reviewing and tracking success of commercial plans, driving correction activity, evaluating all activity and reporting outcomes to stakeholders. The interim is also likely to get involved in brand planning activity for the end of this year into early 2017.

We’re looking for an individual who has recent, extensive commercial planning experience within the FMCG sector – food ideally – including demonstrable experience of working cross-functionally across sales, marketing, category and revenue management teams. You’ll be a naturally strong stakeholder manager, with a great track record of bringing functions together to deliver highly successful go-to-market plans, particularly within the major multiples. Whilst we’re not looking for a ‘brand marketing professional’, we are looking for someone who has worked extensively in a brand – as opposed to own-label – environment. The successful candidate will most likely have come from an FMCG sales background, and have moved into broader, more strategic roles in commercial/category/marketing management in recent years. Whilst this isn’t a customer facing role, previous customer facing experience is required in order to understand the demands and challenges of the customer-facing sales and category teams in delivering growth in a highly competitive category. Equivalent job titles in other businesses might include Trade or Customer Marketing Manager, or Channel Manager. This is an immediate start role which is expected to run to the end of the year, dependent on the permanent recruitment process. Interviews to be held w/c 12th and 19th September. Start date before end of September 2016.
