Job Details

Our client is a truly global FMCG food manufacturing business who has impressive plans for growth and manufacturing capability over the next few years. We are now looking for a Category Manager to look after Top 4 retailer account to cover a period of maternity leave for 12 months. If you are looking for a challenge but within a supportive environment then this business can offer that.

This is an office based role with the opportunity to work from home one day a week.

The Role:

  • Execute a three year vision for Category growth for a Top 4 retailer account that identifies new ways to unlock consumption for the category by bringing the plan to life to encourage the retailer to believe in the growth potential of the categories in which they operate.
  • Develop and execute differentiated strategies that maximise range, distribution, location, availability, promotions and space therefore making the category easier and more enjoyable to shop.
  • Track and evaluate performance of the categories to identify any risks and potential opportunities.
  • Interpret all data sources available and turn it into actionable insights.
  • Ensure that your workload is prioritised and focused against the biggest opportunities within the business.
  • Work closely with the Brand Marketing, Innovation and MS & P teams to ensure that there is a clear category, consumer, shopper and retailer rationale for the brands.
  • Build close working relationships both internally and externally by developing a detailed understanding of key contacts and their strategy and goals.

The Candidate:

  • Prior experience of working as a Category Manager within a fast paced FMCG food manufacturing environment.
  • Educated to degree level or the equivalent.
  • Knowledge of the UK retail trade and ideally within a Top 4 Grocery account.
  • Proven experience in developing and executing merchandising and category recommendations within retailers.
  • Able to interpret data sources including Nielsen and Kantar and ideally some knowledge of space planning tools e.g JDA.
  • Experience of leading, developing and deploying 3 year category plans that deliver effective business results.
  • Great influencing and relationship building skills.
  • Able to adapt quickly to change and flex your style.
