The Role

We are looking for a dynamic Head Of Procurement with significant commodities trading experience, who is looking for a fast paced and challenging role. The Head Of Procurement will be responsible for ensuring the business receives optimal price, service and quality in all areas of procurement.
The Head Of Procurement will set budget prices for Ingredients, packaging and energy and control business expenditure to Budgeted levels. You will promote best practice procurement processes and procedures and secure best deals in Indirect Purchasing areas on a selective basis.
An ability to hit the ground running in this hands on, fast paced, entrepreneurial culture is essential.

Typical Day

Including, but not limited to:


Manage Burtons Procurement Function whose employees are currently located at either St Albans or Moreton. Ensure Burtons achieve optimal price /service / quality in all areas of Procurement. Support and advise all Procurement team members promoting best practice. Procure certain materials on a ‘hands on’ basis. Set Budget Purchase prices on Ingredients, Packaging and Energy and control costs within Budget parameters.

About You

The successful candidate will have/be:

•    Previous experience in FMCG food or drink procurement is desirable
•    Numerate and have experience in budgetary monitoring
•         Comfortable with P&L management and analysis
•    Have some experience of trading commodities 
•    Have experience of buying dairy
•    Experience of buying jam, glucose, egg, fruit and nuts, flavours and chemicals(food chemicals) – these are not essential
•    Indirects experience 
•    Exceptional project management skills
•    Exceptional procurement management experience
•    Self-motivated and starter that thrives in a pace environment 
•    Recognise problems reacting quickly and effectively to resolve them
•    Highly organised with a flexible approach, focus on attention to detail and the ability to work to demanding deadlines.
•    Have immaculate attention to detail
•        An ability to build relationships and work cross functionally
