THIS IS NOT AN ORDINARY ROLE FOR AN ORDINARY PERSON! 

Our client is one of the most successful early stage start-ups in the food industry and led by a pioneering young entrepreneur on a mission to make snacking healthier and incredibly exciting. 

Just approaching the end of their first year the business has achieved incredible things, led by the spirit and drive of the young founder / CEO. The brand is already stocked in mainstream national retailers and available in all the key wholesale operators - particularly around London and the South East.

SALES MANAGER - FOODSERVICE & WHOLESALE

We are looking for someone who wants to be part of a special journey.

You must have some initial sales experience with a respected and well known branded business in UK food & drink. This will include some account management, ideally National Account Management experience. It is key that you already understand the workings of the key food/drink wholesalers in the UK (the likes of Bidvest, Brakes, DDC, Peros, Simple Simon, Simply Heavenly, JD’s Food Group, Marigold, Tree of Life, Suma, CLF, The Health Store etc) and how to activate this key channel for the brand. 

The role will be key to the success of the business, maximising the massive opportunity that exists for the current (and future) product range through these wholesalers. The role will be heavily focused on new business development, from the big end-user accounts right down to key independents that influence trends in the market. It will take a lot of energy, drive and determination. It won't be for the faint hearted but the rewards (both financial and personal) can be huge.

We really want to find someone who has some experience of already doing this in an FMCG food or drinks business so please ONLY APPLY if this is the case. You must have at least 1-2 years of sales experience in a food or drinks brand in the UK and you must have an solid understanding of:

    - Commercial maths / proposal architecture 

    - Wholesale sales development strategy

    - Presenting a compelling brand story

Most importantly, we are looking for someone with real spirit and character and an interesting in pushing themselves to do more, to achieve something special and to be part of a fantastic business story. You will demonstrate this through a love of learning and a track record of pushing yourself to achieve stand out results. If you can demonstrate this then this isn't the role for you. 

 

Key Requirements:

  • Ideally, 1-2+ years of food and beverage sales experience within foodservice and wholesale: experience in field sales, account opening, sales strategy and P+L responsibility.

  • Leadership: you will have managed people before, directly or indirectly, with experience in KPI generation and tracking.

  • Communication: We are looking for a smart, confident and charismatic individual who can build rapport and communicate personality quickly.

  • Software Skills: Spread sheet and arithmetic proficiency is needed as is a strong understanding of power point and presenting.

  • You must be a self-starter so be proud in your time management and organisation.

  • Willingness to get your hands dirty! Even the CEO makes tea!

  • London based.

  • 2:1 or above degree

  • Full UK driver licence.

Salary will be dependent on experience and we won't discount anyone who fits the bill above. However, realistically you can expect a salary of £30k-40k plus a motivating bonus and lots of other 'fringe' benefits.
