AREA BUSINESS MANAGERS

As an Area Business Manager, your primary responsibility is to lead a team of high performing field sales professionals and inspire them to exceed expectations.

You’ll be expected to drive, motivate, inspire and coach a team of approximately 10 sales professionals to deliver against a stretching set of business objectives across a customer base of over 2,000 independent retailers.

You will have a strong commercial capability and a drive to deliver exceptional levels of performance, as well as having keen organisational skills. You’ll have a natural ability to build strong internal and external relationships with key stakeholders and retailers to help leverage performance.

Your specific responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the successful delivery of your Area’s business plan across all identified team and individual metrics.
  • Proactively identifying and acting upon commercial opportunities within your Area.
  • Successfully securing listings and availability of any new product launches in line with a pre-defined trade marketing plan.
  • Maximising the success of our investments in various trade incentives and activities across your Area.
  • Building a strong working knowledge of our retailers, market and products – including competitors and sharing this with your team to aid their development.
  • Spending a significant amount of time in the field, shadowing your team and helping them to develop and improve.
  • Being responsible for the overall management and development of your team – supporting them through all key people management processes such as training, performance management and recruitment
  • Inspiring your team to achieve the extraordinary and acting as a role model for our values and behaviours.
  • Working closely with your peers to ensure the success of your wider team and the overall business

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Significant experience in a Sales role, preferably but not essentially within FMCG 
  • Experience of driving performance, coaching and developing teams of sales professionals
  • Good commercial knowledge of pricing/profitability/ROI 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to manage, motivate and develop the performance of others
  • Excellent organisation and time management 
  • Independent self-starter who can maintain high level of personal motivation in challenging circumstances 
  • Good knowledge of IT business applications
