Business Development Manager

Company

Amethyst Group has over 30 years’ supply chain experience delivering leading-edge specialist warehousing and distribution solutions to a wide range of well-known high street and e-retailers throughout the UK.

Our culture is founded on establishing close relationships with our customers and delivering exceptional levels of customer service.

The business portfolio focuses on Fashion, Beauty, Toys, Nursery and Consumer sectors.

As a third party logistics provider we now wish to expand both our B2B and B2C offering.

With ambitious plans, we need to employ an enthusiastic and driven Business Development Manager, with strong commercial skills, who wishes to develop their career in a Company that recognises and rewards high achievement.

You will be based at either our warehouse in Staplehurst in Kent or Wellesbourne in the Midlands. Ideally, but not necessarily, you will have experience in sales development within the above sectors.

The Role

You will identify new market segments, develop appropriate strategy and from this, generate new business for conversion into profitable, contract-backed revenue streams.

Working with senior managers to research, define and quantify particular retailer segments which would complement the Group’s existing client portfolio, you will be responsible for:

  • Achieving sales objectives and margins through innovative solution selling
  • Generating new leads from networking and other activity
  • Understanding the marketplace and business opportunities
  • Maintaining the Business Development Database
  • Working with internal teams to negotiate, agree and produce client contracts, to include detailed service levels

Person

Key behaviours to ensure success will include:

  • Experience ideally within a third party logistics organisation, preferably with exposure to supply chain management, business planning, solution modelling and tendering
  • Strong persuasive, negotiation and presentation capabilities
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to build enduring relationships with clients and suppliers
  • Enthusiastic and flexible group player
  • Results driven
