Greencore Grocery operates across four key business areas, and is focused on growth and the ability to offer a compelling own label proposition to all our customers. Three of these businesses, operating across Yorkshire, share a common customer platform and have taken the decision to create the new role of Divisional Commercial Director. Reporting to the Divisional Managing Director this new role will lead the delivery of an integrated Divisional commercial strategy and ways of working that will reinforce our determination to secure a more consistent and customer focused culture.

With a combined turnover of c.280 Million, our Grocery Division operates across the ambient, chilled and frozen markets making private label cooking sauces and pickles, hand-finished celebration and Christmas cakes as well as chilled desserts and frozen Yorkshire puddings.

Outline of the opportunity

Based at Selby, as part of the senior Divisional Executive team, the role will set the direction and lead execution of our customer strategy, taking responsibility for all commercial activity across the three businesses including Sales, Insight & Category Management and Product Development. You will champion the strategy by developing sustainable and profitable customer relationships that leverage new commercial opportunities, focused on Insight and Category Management proposals that aid the delivery of both the Division's and our customer's strategic objectives and commercial targets.

Whilst a consistent approach will be the driving force, you will equally need to ensure that you do not lose sight of the individual imperatives of each business bespoke to their own market context in order to ensure profitable growth with new and existing customers whilst also delivering the vision and long term commercial growth.

Required experience

You will be of degree calibre and have an equivalent depth of business understanding built through experience. You will have a deep knowledge of the convenience food market and have commercial expertise within a FTSE business, within FMCG.

Experience of working at Senior Commercial Director level, as part of a senior leadership team, is essential in order to contribute to and help drive the business wide strategy. As well as having strong commercial skills you must have a good all-round business awareness, and you will need to demonstrate strong leadership competence and people development skills in a forward-thinking people orientated culture.
