Due to expansion we are looking to recruit a Business Development Manger in ambient and speciality foods to cover Midlands, Shropshire, Staffordshire and the surrounding areas.

Based in Greater Manchester we are a specialist supplier to the catering industry of fresh produce, ambient and speciality foods. With a turn over of circa £45M, we operate from four depots around the country and deliver to most major cities offering a quality and service that our larger competitors cannot provide.

The ideal candidate

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of profitable sales delivery, be able to demonstrate an excellent knowledge of the foodservice market place and have the ability to engage and inspire customers. Good IT skills and a strong teamwork ethic are essential as well as a passion for food, commercial acumen, a positive attitude and a determination to succeed.

The Role
This exciting new opportunity is to build on an already existing portfolio of clients in the Hotel, Restaurant and Pub sectors.
This role will be responsible for:

  • Retaining customers, gaining feedback and giving price comparisons
  • Growing business with existing customers by introducing new product lines
  • Assist in customer related issues
  • KPI reporting to include : customer visits and outcomes, sales figures and analysis of customer portfolio
  • Engage in CPD and work to increase & update product knowledge.

What skills and qualities do we look for in our BDM’s?

 

  • Must have experience in the foodservice sector (not necessarily in Sales or Account  Management)
  • Previous sales experience within fresh/ambient produce a positive ( but not essential)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self motivated, energetic, tenacious and team player
  • Enjoys challenges, good time management, works well under pressure
  • Committed and passionate
  • Computer literate
  • UK driving licence
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Strong relationship builder
  • Analytical thinking
  • Strong Influencing skills
