Strategic Buyer

Our client is a blue chip consumer products business who is a market leader in their field with globally recognized brands.

They currently have an opportunity for a Senior Buyer to join their business with responsibility for Indirect spend. This is a global role that will require some European travel, but not extensive.

The Senior Buyer will develop and implement regional and local sourcing strategies in addition to actively supporting the execution of global sourcing strategies.

• Develop, implement, and monitor regional and local sourcing strategies for all goods materials and services defined as “regionally or locally sourced” ensuring agreed objectives are met
• Build, document, and update regional and local market knowledge continuously to ensure best practice procurement is achieved in all projects
• Manage the process for the selection of suppliers across the Management Unit to ensure the goods, services and materials purchased met the quality, service and cost criteria of the business.
• Derive negotiation strategy from category positioning and negotiate to achieve the objectives defined in alignment with the business
• Implementation of global and regional procurement standards and the application of standardized procurement processes, methods, tools, performance measurement, and systems
• Responsibility for the reporting of procurement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and defining necessary actions required in order to achieve them
• Actively engage with the procurement community (global, regional and local) and relevant external groups to share, develop and implement procurement best practice, ways of working and maximise opportunities

Applicants for the role will need to demonstrate the following:

• Degree Educated
• CIPS preferable but not essential
• Proven background in strategic buying, ideally within Indirect categories
