MANAGER, BRAND AND SPECIAL PROJECTS

Competitive Salary, Company Car, enhanced pension contributions, healthcare and benefits

The Company

THE MRH (GB) Ltd Group is the UK’s largest independent retailer of petroleum products with over 450 service stations stretching across the UK, operating under some of the biggest global fuel brands.

We are also one of Britain’s largest independent retailers and, following successive years of record sales, we now have exciting new plans for growth.

As a consequence, the Company now has a number of newly created posts for those wishing to develop their marketing career.

The role

Reporting to the Manager, Merchandising and Shops, your role will be to develop site sales and profitability through the implementation of new initiatives, special projects and the consistent implementation of standards across our store network.

Responsible for a small team of Area Managers, you will ensure that the ‘Hursts’ brand, and those of our partners, remains fresh and relevant to the market.

You will also oversee store openings, refits, launches, and a wide range of promotional activities.

Capable of exercising financial control, you will prepare capex programmes, track retail performance and provide accurate retail and cost information against budget to the business.

A strong negotiator, you will develop an effective network of suppliers and partners in order to deliver retail offers, site initiatives and performance to contract.

You will also protect the Company’s reputation as a responsible retailer, through the management of Premises Licences Controllers and the provision of tools to ensure compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To effectively manage and lead a small team of Area Managers.
  • To protect, maintain and develop the MRH Retail brand ‘Hursts’ and its application across our network.
  • To keep abreast of the latest product ranges, services and equipment so that they may be introduced at sites at the earliest opportunity.
  • To evaluate and manage special projects.
  • To oversee the management of store openings, site refits, launches and other supplier/retailer activities.
  • To track and report on sales and retailer performance on a like for like basis against budget.
  • To develop and manage effective working relationships with our branded shop partners.
  • To exercise financial control through the preparation, maintenance and reporting on capex programmes, budgets and stock.
  • To negotiate, maintain  and review maintenance contracts for site equipment.
  • To at all times work in a safe manner and ensure the safety of others and the environment.

This is a national role that will require travel and overnight stays throughout the UK.

You will also be required to attend meetings at our offices, in Egham, Surrey on a regular basis.

Requirements

With a focus on quality, you will be able to deliver results through the effective planning and organising of your workload and that of your team.

You will possess a flexible and adaptable approach to your role, using your problem solving skills to overcome obstacles to ensure you remain on track to achieve your objectives.

Ideally with a retail background, you will possess either A level Maths and English at grade ‘C’ or above, a degree or be qualified via experience in merchandising.

With a full, clean driving licence, strong Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint and Word skills, you will either have C.A.D skills or be willing to acquire them.

Application

Please include in your letter why you are interested in the role & working for the MRH (GB) Ltd Group, your current salary and notice period (if relevant).

Selection for the role will be by a combination of interview and assessments.

The closing date is 15th May 2016 and short listed candidates will be invited to attend an interview in June.

If you decide to apply for this post but do not hear back from us within three weeks of the closing date, please assume that you have not been short-listed on this occasion.
