One of the UK’s largest food businesses, with a variety of brands, is looking for a Senior Brand Manager to join their dynamic Marketing team. With full P&L responsibility for the UK’s No.1 brand in its category, they are looking for a strategic marketer who is able to work collaboratively with other functions in a fast paced environment. The company boasts a range of ‘family favourite’ brands that are a staple for households across the UK. As a ‘people centric’ organisation, they aim to attract, retain and develop the most talented individuals, to help them achieve their true potential. The Head Office is based just outside West London, ideally they would like this individual to be in the office 5 days a week if needed.

 

Purpose of Job

  • Deliver the market and financial KPIs through excellent execution of brand plans new launches/initiatives with active engagement in the S&OP process
  • Play a pivotal role in the creation and delivery of brand plans
  • Build effective internal & external networks to deliver the brand plans

Nature & Scope of the Job

  • To support the Marketing Manager in the strategic development and lead execution of the brand to agreed personal objectives.
  • The brand is worth c £280mn RSV, therefore it plays a pivotal role in the profit delivery of the Company. Now in 60% of UK Households, making it the 16th biggest UK Grocery brand. This makes the brand and its performance highly visible both internally and externally. It is critical that the brand sustains the momentum it has built up over the past 18 years and continues to lead the market through highly engaging communications and market leading NPD and innovation.
  • Key Relationships :
  • Senior Management / Demand Leadership Team:  Performance vs. budget, progress of on-going projects (incl NPD)
  • Sales and Category:  Communication and management of Marketing activity
  • Operations:  Leading cross functional project management teams
  • Finance:  P&L development for current business and NPD
  • Demand Planning:  Forecast management
  • External Agencies:  Day to day management

Principal Accountabilities

  • Annual Brand Situational Analysis and Brand Plan
  • Specific responsibilities for the  with a focus on their profit impact on overall marketing contribution
  • Deliver the communications programme including advertising, ATL and BTL
  • Project management of key NPD  projects
  • Appropriate actions and tactics are to be recommended through the fiscal cycle to ensure that budgeted profit is delivered.
  • Ensure sales teams are fully briefed on marketing plans and are fully implementing appropriate brand activity
  • Feed into the monthly forecast cycle for these brands & products.  Concurrently to manage their A&P accounts with Finance.
  • Effective management of the 'day-to-day' concerns on these brands & products e.g. quality issues, monthly forecast cycle.
  • Factory liaison – representing brand team at site operational project meetings
  • Build relationships and liaise with agencies – Advertising, BTL, PR, Media

Knowledge & Experience Required

  • Graduate or of graduate ability
  • Essential: Experience of working on an FMCG brand with balance of both commercial management and full mix marketing
  • Desirable:  Experience of working in a data driven / analytical environment
  • Minimum 6 -8  years’ experience in an FMCG environment
  • Balance of strategic thinking (understanding the big picture and future) with strong day to day business management (getting on with the ‘here and now’)
  • Ability to analyse data quickly to use findings to make sound business recommendations
  • Solid understanding of a brand P&L and its wider commercial implications
  • Knowledge and experience of leading NPD projects and product development
  • Good knowledge of marketing communications development, with experience across the full marketing mix including advertising development
  • Strong communication and presentation skill; ability to fluently and clearly present plans and recommendations
  • Strong Project management skills; ability to plan and prioritize
  • Experience of consumer research, both qualitative and quantitative
