United Biscuits, home of McVitie’s and Jacob’s, are recruiting for a Senior Brand Manager to join the Savoury marketing team, responsible for our portfolio of Savoury Biscuits, with particular focus on Jacob’s Tuc, Jacob’s Cheddars and our critically important seasonal Xmas portfolio. 

Jacob’s is the nation’s favourite Savoury Biscuit brand, with a wide portfolio of products covering a variety of consumer needs and occasions.

This is an exciting area for us at United Biscuits.  Savoury accounts for 1/3 of our revenue, and has been the major source of growth over the past 2 years.  In that time, volume has increased +17% and revenue +14%, making Jacob’s the 34th largest FMCG brand in the UK, up from #45 2 years ago. 

As one of the fastest growing food brands in the country, with significant projected growth plans, to be achieved through increased marketing investment and strong innovation plans, we are looking for a dynamic marketing leader who can help us maintain and increase our growth going forward.

We’re looking for a driven, inquisitive, creative and commercially savvy Senior Brand Manager to come and lead some of our most important Savoury Biscuits brands – Jacob’s Tuc, Jacob’s Cheddars and the Xmas range spearheaded by Jacob’s Biscuits for Cheese selections. 

As SBM, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of a brand marketing strategy with the development of innovative and impactful plans.  The brands within the portfolio are a significant focus for UB, and you will be expected to drive them hard in the marketplace behind strong investment.

You need to be someone who is a motivated self-starter, who is passionate about understanding consumers and what makes them tick, who relishes the commercial challenges that working within the UK retail environment poses, and who thrives on variety in their role.  And of course, someone that believes that biscuits, whether Savoury or Sweet, make the world a better place – or at least a tastier place!

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Delivery of brand strategy & plans to meet business sales and profit targets in line with Brand Planning process and UB performance KPIs.
  • Regularly review plan and performance throughout year, taking appropriate remedial action as necessary
  • Contribute to the Brand Innovation strategy and the prioritisation & management of plan initiatives, leading Branding and NPD projects
  • Control Marketing expenditure within pre agreed budget and ensure evaluation of all spend on a continuous basis
  • Manage, motivate and develop brand team members
  • Full marketing mix responsibilities including comms

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience of below the line activities ie. POS, Sampling and ideally some exposure to Comms
  • FMCG experience on brands with a proven track record in achieving ambitious growth plans
  • Experience of cross functional working
  • Strong technical marketing experience within the FMCG sector
  • Able to demonstrate resilience, independence and a very proactive approach to Marketing

To be successful in this role you need to be able to show determination, ambition and drive.  There is real scope for success with this portfolio and a real focus for business growth over three years.  You will be leading a brand through double digit growth and be able to build your reputation within a growing business.
