THE ROLE:

The Consumer Products Division, within L'Oreal UKI, is seeking a dynamic, results driven Category Controller to lead our Tesco Category team, and build and maintain our strategic partnerships with the trade. The role is accountable for leading the external facing Tesco team and is responsible for embedding best in class category expertise and ways of working, both internally and externally. The role will be focused on range review excellence, retailer strategy and landing strategic projects.

Key elements to your role:
  • Range Reviews: responsibility for landing range review process both internally and externally growing in-store fundamental - Show of Shelf, Show of Distribution, optimized range for their specified retailers.
  • Retailer category strategy: take the developed category strategy and make retailer/shopper centric, tailored for Tesco. Identify and unlock projects for growth outside of standard Range Review process.
  • Lead and land Tesco specific projects: eventing, in-store reinvention, shopper segmentation, research etc.
  • Lead regular category trade meetings: market updates, RR proposal and follow ups, post RR analysis, project meetings.
  • Retailer T2T/strategy meeting: lead and develop sharp, shopper centric insight.
  • Promotions: Develop, manage and embed in-store and promo fundamentals across the business.
  • Multifunctional ways of working: Develop and embed multi-functional ways between Category Strategy Team, CMI, commercial, marketing and supply.
  • Managing and coaching the team - two direct reports (Category Manager level)


Who we are looking for:

Alongside experience in a similar role you should be confident demonstrating all of the following:
  • Significant experience in a customer-facing role
  • Proven experience of landing RRs, retailer strategies and projects
  • Managing and developing a high performing team
  • Very Strong communication skills both written and oral, and sense of contact
  • Very good understanding of marketing strategies, shopper/consumers studies and panels
  • Very good understanding of H&B, brand equity and market distribution
  • Outstanding analytical skills & Ability to work with multiple continuous data sources
  • Knowledge of modern sales tools and data systems (CRM, digital...)
