An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Category Manager (directs) to join my client a household name in the consumer market on a full time permanent basis. As the Category Manager you will be responsible for the procurement of goods and services in specific spend categories, including strategic category management and the delivery of short-term cost improvements as well as ensuring that key supplier performance meets SLAs and that stakeholder issues are resolved.

Your key responsibilities will be;
  • Development & implementation of strategic category management plans to deliver business requirements of security of supply, quality, service, innovation and cost benefits
  • Development of strategic sourcing plans, including business requirements, spend analysis, risk analysis and strategic analysis tools
  • Support other Procurement Managers in different spend categories to overcome short-term workload increases
  • Responsible for identification and delivery of benefits from tactical activity with suppliers, including specification reviews and price negotiation
  • Responsible for ensuring that an approved legal contract is in place for each significant supplier
  • Responsible for supplier performance management and continuous improvement, including cross-functional performance reviews with key suppliers
  • Provide advice and support to NPD for the procurement of new materials
  • Provide standard costs and price forecasts for budget and forecasting processes



The ideal candidate will have the following;
  • Proven procurement experience gained in a FMCG environment
  • Good practical knowledge of procurement, performance measures, processes and contracts
  • Relevant category specific knowledge an advantage
  • Degree (or equivalent working experience) / MCIPS
  • Strong negotiation/contract management skills
