Job Details

My client is a Globally renowned brand in Home and Houseware's, a household name with a strong heritage and UK manufacturing. They are currently looking to strengthen their team with the addition of a Category Analyst. This role has a measurable career path attached to it and will offer the right candidate the chance to progress quite quickly to be a Category Manager. This will be driven by your motivation to drive accounts forward and work pro-actively, to identify opportunities and ways of improvement.

Working within the Commercial team, the main purpose of your role will be to identify key insights that will enhance the category management function and feed into the overall business strategy. This is an ideal role for a person who is looking to fast track their career within FMCG.

The Role:

  • Develop an understanding of the category dynamics and related shopper behaviours.
  • Use available data sources and market knowledge to develop compelling insights that will inform business strategy.
  • Ensure the business is aware of market, retailer and brand performance through regular reports and adhoc updates in order to defend market share.
  • Initial responsibility for a number of retailer accounts and establish relationships with new customers.
  • Look to improve distribution and positioning by leveraging range review processes.
  • Maintenance and customisation of databases to ensure that information is accurate.
  • Manage the tracking of pricing and promotional activity of competitors by organising and conducting store audits across the top 8 accounts.
  • Use internal and external data sources to make recommendations on promotional strategy.
  • Keep the business informed regarding the latest market developments and performance by collating and presenting internal communications.
  • Alongside the sales team, present data findings to customers and work with customers and the sales team to maximise turnover.
  • Identify new product development opportunities as well as where existing ranges could be rationalised.

The Requirements:

  • Previous Category Analysis experience within FMCG, with knowledge of using data such as IRI, Nielsen and Kantar.
  • IT literate including knowledge of Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Educated to degree level or the equivalent.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent presentation skills
