An international retail solutions company are seeking a Junior Buyer to join their established Purchasing team, working in a varied role that will involve strategic negotiation and category ownership.

The Opportunity

This is a newly created role for the business, taking on a product category group that will be key to the company's long term strategic plan.

Through category planning and collaborating with the New Product Development team, you will coordinate all purchasing activity on your product groups. This will involve both contract buying and spot buying, so you will need to build and maintain strong relationships with both national and international suppliers.

You will continually map the market for new suppliers, and track commodity prices on relevant raw materials.

You will be eligible for generous annual leave entitlement, and will have the opportunity to go on a number of international business trips.

Working alongside some of the best buyers in the sector, you will receive on-desk training. The company would expect you to step up to a Buyer role as your categories develop.

To Interview

You will have some exposure to Buying within retail, FMCG or packaging environments. You will have the ambition to take a step up to Buyer level, and be comfortable with negotiating with senior stakeholders.
