The Role

As the Shopper Marketing Manager your responsibility will be to design, plan and implement Shopper Marketing activity in support of our Brand and Channel/ Customer plans.

Fundamentals of the Role

  • Establish shopper marketing (SM) objectives by brand.
  • Establish appropriate SM strategies and tactics by channel and customer (grocery & convenience).
  • Decide on the core idea behind the campaign/ activity to carry into the creative development phase.  
  • Manage a diverse group of internal stakeholders through the creative process against project specific timelines.
  • Support NAMs on the development of their retailer specific SM plans.
  • Ensure alignment between the NAMs plans and overall brand SM strategy.
  • Attend customer meetings where appropriate in support of the aligned plans.
  • Be a voice of the shopper internally - understand the differing shopper needs by retailer and represent this internally.
  • Work with the category team on ‘at fixture’ category education/navigation. 

External

  • Fully Understand your customers’ &  shoppers’ needs
  • Build a broad knowledge of market leading brand activation and external connections that can inform the quality of our plans.
  • Build and sustain relationships with the customer media contacts.
  • Ensure media options across the trade and associated rate cards are understood.

Internal

  • Matrix Management of Project to completion

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will have gained strong category experience within the FMCG industry and will already be operating within a Shopper Marketing or Customer Activation. However we are also open to candidates from the following areas:

  • All areas of Shopper/Customer marketing (including Activation & Merchandising)
  • Brand Marketing
  • Category Management
  • Retail Marketing
  • Sales/Commercial (with some exposure to Customer Marketing Plans)  

Additionally we are also willing to consider dynamic candidates who could be at a slightly more junior level, but you must be clearly leading your “peer group” and be ready for the greatest challenge of your career to date.
