Job Title: Commodities Buyer – Fruit and Nut

Sector: Consumer / FMCG

Location:  Greater London

I am recruiting on behalf of a branded FMCG food manufacturer which is looking to appoint a Commodities Buyer responsible for assuring the supply of Fruit and Nuts. This will cover their Northern European operations in line with the strategic sourcing strategy.

This role will report into the Procurement Category Manager and is responsible for a spend of circa £15m.

Key responsibilities for this role include –

Develop and implement sourcing and category plans which are aligned to the business goals.

Plan and lead negotiations with Suppliers in order to drive the best value for the business

Provide regular accurate price and volume forecasting

Benchmark internal and external best practice to drive best in class performance

Exploit synergy opportunities across their International business units to deliver objectives in terms of cost, quality, service and innovation

Support internal stakeholders across the wider supply chain and the central technical teams to accelerate new products into market in order to grow their brands locally and globally

Maintain and develop the Supply base, through driving strategic relationships and driving continuous improvement in Supplier performance

Run tender processes, bid analysis, post-bid negotiation and business award

Provide regular market analysis, benchmark data and supplier evaluation to support risk management within volatile commodity markets

Essential Experience, Skills and Qualifications –

Ideally experience of buying and managing commodity/ ingredient portfolio

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Experience of budget management and financial reporting

Excellent negotiation skills

Experience in supplier relationship management
