Ben & Jerry’s opened their first scoop shop in 1978 in America, coming to the UK in 1994.  

Based in Burlington, Vermont, the business has grown over the last 37 years to become one of the best known and loved brands for ice-cream.

Due to a new strategic direction an exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced Retail Operations Manager UK to join part of a brand new, Europe-based retail team for Ben & Jerry’s.  

Expanding from the in-home side of the business, Ben & Jerry’s are looking to build and grow their retail presence through scoop shops, flagship stores and franchises.  

We need a strong, innovative and inspiring leader to lead and develop the entire retail operations across the UK.  

This is a nationwide job and will require significant travel throughout the UK along with trips to Europe.

So what are we looking for?

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their previous success managing client relationships.  

We need someone who can both manage and coach others to deliver the Ben & Jerry’s experience, in terms of customer service, our brand reputation and our social mission.  

A strong retail background is a must, as is a clear, strategic thinker who isn’t afraid to suggest and try new ideas.  

Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be evident and pressure and deadlines will not hinder your ability to achieve.  

The capability to make sound decisions and implement plans is crucial, as are good analytical and observational skills.

Day-to-day the successful candidate will be accountable and responsible for the retail focus of the brand throughout the UK, assisting and reporting to the Head of Retail - Europe.  

The retail business should be grown and developed whilst remaining profitable through strong leadership and coaching, measurable by KPI and business scorecard delivery.

The ideal candidate should lead, inspire and develop their team through business models such as 'good to great'.

The culture within Ben & Jerry's is about training, coaching and empowering the teams; the UK Operations Manager should come with a background that has implemented this model.

We pride ourselves on maintaining our principles around ethics and social awareness and need someone who is inspired by these in their decision making and overall conduct.
