Formed in November 2008 when the leading Norwegian dairy cooperative, Tine BA Group, acquired The Ilchester® Cheese Company in Somerset, England, Norseland's objective was clear - to create a platform of excellence, based in the UK, on which to drive the speciality cheese market forward both at home and abroad, using strengths from both parties.

The Norseland "house of brands" includes a variety of increasingly popular cheeses. Taking centre stage from Norway is Jarlsberg®, admired by leading chefs worldwide, whilst brands from the UK include the ever popular Applewood® Cheese, Mexicana®, Ilchester® and Five Counties®.

Responsibilities

The purpose of the Wholesale & Fine Foods Business Development Manager role is to generate revenue from the development of new business in the UK, focusing on fine foods speciality retail outlets nationally and foodservice/general wholesale businesses in the Midlands / North of England. The BDM will also manage some existing regional wholesale business.

This role is required to manage efficient and profitable business relationships, achieve annual budgeted revenue, volume & gross margin targets. List new or existing products, gift packing seasonal products and own the annual promotional schedule for the customer/sub channel portfolio.

Negotiate terms and cost prices to deliver a profitable long term business.

The primary focus of this role is to develop new business with small independent retailers.

The individual is expected to network at all levels within Norseland, working as part of a small team.

Requirements

Experience of working within food wholesale distribution and regional/national accounts. Possible background in territory field sales in food FMCG.  

Experience with high end ready meals manufacturers would be an advantage.

Excellent presentation and negotiation skills at all levels.

Good experience of writing and delivering presentations.

Strong experience of building and developing new business.

To perform to a high standard when working in a highly pressured environment.

Proven analytical skills and ability to provide accurate information in a timely manner.

To be a highly motivated  individual with a strong team ethic communicating and liaising successfully across departments, whilst delivering individual work to a high standard

To be well organised and a good timekeeper, able to prioritise work effectively with constant feedback on activity and ensuring the BU team are copied in on all account information.

Good attention to detail, even when under pressure.

Fully competent in the use of Microsoft packages including Excel and Powerpoint.
