Job Details

Paul Nyman Consultancy are working with a well know North West based FMCG group to recruit a very unique and exciting new role within the Strategic Marketing Team.

The Business

Known to many in the North West of England as a major employer with significant on shelf presence across the major grocery retail network in the UK. With an expansive product base spanning some of the most popular and competitive categories in the retailer, this business has differentiated itself over the decades in part though its first to market innovation, which has been led by superior market, customer, channel and competitor insight and a clear strategic agenda.

The Role

The Market Intelligence Manager will form part of a newly created strategic marketing team within the business and hold a central role within the future strategic direction of operations in the UK and Europe over the next few years and beyond.

Reporting in to the Strategic Marketing Director the market intelligence manager will work cross functionally to make strategic recommendations to the Senior Leadership team based on the analysis and interpretation of key market data including category, commercial, EPOS and competitor data. As such it would suit a highly analytical and numbers focused mind-set with significant commercial acumen and the experience and gravitas to engage at a very senior level within the business. With an expansive presence across Europe your scope will go beyond the borders of the UK making this a truly all-encompassing strategic role.

The Person

The role will involve an eclectic mix of skills which span analysis, project management, and commercial acumen and most importantly the experience of making actionable recommendations to a senior team. You may have already come from a market intelligence or strategic planning role but just as likely could be a background in category management, insight or marketing with a strong exposure to analysis of category and market data coupled with an ability to show evidence of making recommendations to a senior level.

The Opportunity

As a new function with significant internal backing from the board you will have all the resources you need to make an impact and grow within the business. The importance of the role to the business will lead to the scope to recruit and develop a team around you as you deliver success to the business over the next 12 month and onwards.

Company

Catmanjob.com was created in 2006 as a specialist division specifically supporting category, shopper and net revenue professionals.  The brain child of Paul Nyman who realised at the time “we just didn’t know enough about category management and how it affects a business”.  Catmanjobs operates as a division of  Paul Nyman Consultancy, which was established in 2004 to support wider FMCG recruitment markets, after Paul was made redundant, and toured the UK recruitment market seeking employment to pay the mortgage.

During this journey he identified some of the most important characteristics for job seekers hunting for a new role:

  • Understand what  I, as a candidate can do.
  • Honestly tell me why I cannot perform in the role I applied for.
  • Know how your clients can advance my career.
  • Get back to me.
  • Don’t BS me.

These have become entwined in the approach the team at Paul Nyman Consultancy take to support individuals achieve career success across the UK and Europe.

We offer not just recruitment, but wider career support and development through workshops which include national and international recruitment and development experience.

Not just a recruiter.

We enjoy being career developers.
