Assistant Shops Manager

Full Time, 35 hours per week

The University of Nottingham Students’ Union has a vacancy for an Assistant Shops Manager to support our retail operation and be heavily involved in an exciting redevelopment of our retail offer.

Our retail operation comprises three trading outlets, an online clothing platform and control of University of Nottingham merchandise on behalf of the University.

You’ll assist our Shops Manager in generating income for use in our wider activities, whilst balance this with employing and developing student staff.

You’ll oversee the management of a team of permanent staff, supplemented with students in a seasonal operation - we’re busiest during term time but there’s lots to do and plenty of trade when the students are away on vacation.

The primary focus over the next six months is the planning and preparation to change our major retail outlet to a branded operation, so you’ll be busy from the start!

Ideally with no less than 3 years’ experience in a comparable trading environment, you’ll bring high standards of customer service, experience of staff development and outstanding financial acumen to the role.

You’ll lead by example, and ensure your team meets the needs of the business and the customers to create a fantastic experience.

You won’t be afraid to innovate, and you’ll look to grow and develop our operation in line with changing student needs.

You’ll act with full authority in the absence of the Shops Manager, so your ability to take responsibility is key.
