Field Sales Manager – Premium Housewares/SDAs

To £40,000 Basic, Good Bonus, Car or Car Allowance

Our Client are distributors for top end / premium housewares and small domestic appliances. A vacancy exists for a Field Sales Manager to manage a Field Sales team across the north.

The job holder will have either four or five salespeople reporting into them, and their job will be a combination of man management and personal sales ( approx. 75% of their time will be spent on man management duties ).

Candidates need to have had at least two / three years man management experience for this role, and be able to talk intelligently about the management of people and also to talk at interview about how they have got results through others. Candidates need to be able to demonstrate that they have got their management hands dirty, and dealt with things like non-performers, training needs, disciplinary etc

Candidates need to have sold branded products. This is an essential.

Candidates should have had previous account exposure to independent retail and / or independent department stores ( the likes of Beales, Fenwicks, William and Griffin, Winch and Batch, so basically small independent department stores with typically one or two branches ). Most of these stores will belong to the buying group AIS.

Exposure to members of buying groups is important ( the likes of BIRA, Home Hardware, AIS, Combined Independents, Euronics, Sirius etc ). The candidates don’t need to have had exposure to the buying group’s head office, just to the members so they know how the buying groups operate and interact with members.

Candidates should have experience of either SDA, Brown Goods / white goods, or housewares.

Candidates can be from either a manufacturing background or from a distributor background. Either background would be equally good.

Location – candidates should live broadly speaking along the M62 corridor although our Client will consider candidates who live slightly north or south of this.
