Management Team Opportunity – Area Sales Manager

Guala Closures is a fast-paced, Glasgow-based manufacturing company who are a key supplier to the drinks industry. We are looking for a highly skilled and knowledgeable Area Sales Manager to join the team. 

Reporting to the General Manager, the role is responsible for the management of all sales and commercial aspects relating to existing Guala Closures UK accounts with responsibility for the Sales and Customer Service team.  The delivery of excellent account management will be provided by the wider Sales Team overseen by the role holder.

Additionally, the role holder is required to develop current business and attain new accounts in the UK and export markets.  

The development and promotion of new and existing Guala Closures UK products will be managed in partnership by the Area Sales Manager and the Design Manager to generate interest in Guala Closures UK products.

Key Responsibilities

  • To set and achieve annual sales budget
  • To proactively research and realise business opportunities in order to source new accounts within the UK and export markets
  • To support Guala Closures Group and other Guala Areas Sales Managers with the provision of commercial information and guidance on the UK market and customers
  • To produce monthly/ quarterly reporting and forecasted sales based on credible research and intelligence with the provision of anticipated trends where identified in addition to acting as an advisor to the General Manager on market activity
  • Commercial responsibility for costing and negotiating all contract matters with new and existing customers by working in partnership to achieve a mutually beneficial end results which drive profit for Guala Closures UK in addition to retaining valued custom
  • To assist and manage commercial aspects of new product development
  • To provide an excellent account management service to existing customer that will deliver a highly credible vendor Score
  • To oversee the management of the sales and commercial administrative activity to ensure the team deliver on the customer order commitments through efficient order management and proactive communications.
  • To contribute to the continuous improvement agenda by leading team members to identify improvements and contribute towards making positive changes and take full responsibility for the sales and commercial aspects of the BIP (Business Improvement Plan)
  • To proactive manage both internal and external stakeholders in order to build and maintain strong relationships
  • To work with other Guala Closures business units to maximise intercompany sales opportunities across the group

The Person

This role requires a confident, motivated and committed individual who can lead from the front.  A sales management background is essential as is the ability to manage complex and varied stakeholders as trust and credibility within the customer groups are essential.

A strategic thinker who is commercially astute, the role holder will hold a high level of influence and be an excellent communicator who motivates and drives the team to deliver. 

Experience or exposure to the food and drinks industry would be advantageous.
